Nowadays, iPhone (and smartphone owners in general) are more connected than ever. While this is definitely convenient, sometimes (if you work with the NSA, feel free to replace the word with “all the time”) your information or communication could end up in the wrong hands.
Because of this, it is important to always have alternatives to manage your data and communication as safely and privately as possible, which is why in this entry you will find three great apps to do so.

1. WISeID
If you are a fan of keeping as much of your information and data as safe and secret as possible, then WISeID will be right up your alley.
To start, the app allows you to protect your information with up to three authentication methods, including a password, a dot pattern and even using face recognition.
Once you create your account, WISeID is ready to store all kinds of information, including, simple passwords, credit card numbers, private notes and even more complex pieces of data, such as QR codes, entire documents and more.
Another neat feature of WISeID is that the app allows you to send encrypted emails if you need to, which is quite convenient.
In addition to all of these, WISeID also offers users (paid) access to their cloud servers if you want to have your important information stored somewhere else in addition to your iOS device.
2. Wickr
Created by a team of experts on security and privacy, Wickr is a free iOS app that specializes in sending self-destructing messages to other users with Wickr installed on their devices.

While seemingly simple, Wickr is an app that allows users a lot of control and customization letting you decide who sees your messages and exactly how long the message will last before it is destroyed.
The app’s main benefit of course is that everything you do is safeguarded with top-of-the-line military-grade encryption, so every message no matter how short will never be caught by someone you don’t want to. Additionally, Wickr integrates with Box, Dropbox, and even Google Drive so you can send both images and PDFs from those accounts.
3. Don’t Swipe
How many times you’ve handed your iPhone to someone else so they can see a few photos from your trip, but that person just keeps browsing all your albums and ends up seeing photos you wanted to keep private?
This is definitely a common occurrence and is exactly what Don’t Swipe ($0.99) tries to solve with a simple and minimal approach.
The way the app works is pretty simple: You select either your camera roll or your Photo Stream to display all your photos and then simply tap on those you want to show. Alternatively, if you have a lot of photos, you can also swipe across them to select them.
Once you do, tap the ‘check’ sign at the top right of the screen and the view mode will be enabled, allowing anyone who you give your iPhone to, to view only the photos you selected.
There’s no way to exit this view mode unless you know the app’s trick of course, which in this case is to shake your iPhone, something that most of your friends will never guess, although creating a custom gesture would have been a lot nicer.
